Accordion Fire Curtain
Automatic accordion fire curtain is a life safety system designed to arrest the spread of fire in a building. The assembly comprises a fire-resistant fiberglass fabric stacked inside a headbox that is typically installed above the ceiling to be virtually invisible until activated. Automatic Accordion Fire Curtain Applications
Elevator Door
Elevator shafts are permanent compartment breaches that have the potential to spread fire and smoke vertically through a building very quickly. While most elevator doors have some degree of fire resistance, the sealing effect against smoke is not as effective. Smoke curtains provide an effective smoke shield, usually installed around elevator doors and invisible when retracted. Once installed, they can significantly reduce smoke leakage in line with international leak requirements.
Elevator Lobby
Though smoke curtains can be installed as a barrier in front of any elevator door, this may not always suit a building's fire protection strategy. Sometimes a protected lobby in front of a row of elevator doors is required instead. Curtains can now serve this purpose where a physical fire and smoke barrier was previously required to be built — and when not in use, there are no physical barriers or restrictions.
Escalators and Stairs
Openings between escalators or stairs have the potential to spread fire and smoke vertically through a building very quickly. Fire and smoke curtains can be installed around these openings in a variety of configurations, providing an effective smoke barrier while remaining hidden in the ceiling when not in use. With an intelligent control system, the curtain can be connected to the escalator to facilitate escape and set escape buttons.
Atrium Patio
Many office buildings and shopping malls have open atrium designs. To prevent smoke or open flames from spreading between floors, Supremex fire and smoke curtains are installed for isolation and protection, safeguarding personal and property safety while helping speed up the emission of smoke. In circular or irregular-shaped patios, the curtain can be sewn in a concertina shape, lifted by strips, and installed to match the shape of the atrium.
